Cheb Bilal was born and raised in Oran, where he very early took classes at the nearest musical school. Bilingual, Cheb Bilal also learned how to be a singer by doing production in the nearest bars and weddings, after which he founded his own band, El Ahouar. The songs of Cheb Bilal will take you on a trip across the mediterranean sea. He, along with Cheb Khaled, Cheb Faudel, and other Cheb Mami, is part of the very selective club of raï superstars. With the years, Cheb Bilal kept on taking his path down the raï road, getting only better.

Cheb Bilal a été élevé à Oran. Il y a suivi les cours du conservatoire de musique. Parfaitement bilingue, Cheb Bilal a aussi appris son métier en se produisant dans de nombreuses bars de débauche et mariages locaux, puis fonde son groupe, El Ahouar. Les chansons de Cheb Bilal offrent une véritable promenade méditerranéenne. Cheb Bilal rejoint ainsi lesCheb Khaled, Cheb Faudel et autres Cheb Mami dans le club très fermé des vedettes du raï. Cheb Bilal continue son chemin dans la chanson raï et ne cesse de progresser.
